Jiamusi University

Jiamusi University is the easternmost institution of higher learning in China. It is one of the 100 universities supported by the "Project for Basic Capacity Building of Higher Education Institutions in Central and Western China". It is the only comprehensive university in Heilongjiang Province with a medical discipline. It is a key high-level university in Heilongjiang Province. Jiamusi University is located in Jiamusi City, which is known as the "Little Yan 'an of Northeast China" and is the easternmost part of China and one of the most charming ecological cities in the country. Jiamusi City is located in the Sanjiang Plain, home to the Sanjiang Wetland, one of the world's three major wetlands, the world-famous Heixiazi Island, and the distinctive Hezhen customs. It is the birthplace of the Great Northern Wilderness spirit, an important national commodity grain production base, and the first place in China to welcome the rising sun.

The school was founded on July 20, 1947. In 1995, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, it was formed by the merger of Jiamusi Medical College, Jiamusi Institute of Technology, Jiamusi Teachers College and the former Jiamusi University (municipal). After 2000, Jiamusi Grain Workers' Secondary Vocational School, Fujin Normal School and Heilongjiang Polytechnic School were successively merged into it. The school has four campuses in Jiamusi City, covering an area of 1.3466 million square meters and a total area of 2.4662 million square meters. The main campus is surrounded by Sifeng Mountain to the south and Songhua River to the north, with lush greenery everywhere and picturesque scenery. It has been recognized as a provincial civilized campus and one of the first batch of "green campuses" in the province. In 2025, the Fuyuan Campus will be established in Fuyuan City, striving to create a new model of university-local collaboration, a new platform for industry-education integration, and a new window for opening up to the north.

The total assets of the school amount to 2.131 billion yuan, of which the assets of teaching and research instruments and equipment amount to 450 million yuan, with advanced equipment and abundant resources. It has a rich variety of teaching, research and internship bases such as Fujin Farm and Sifeng Farm, as well as numerous innovation and practice platforms such as engineering Training Center and municipal school-enterprise new e-commerce talent Training base. The grand integrated experimental and training building covers an area of over 30,000 square meters. Five quiet and comfortable graduate dormitories, 24 modern and convenient undergraduate dormitories and well-equipped international student dormitories, as well as five student dining halls (140 food Windows in total) that offer a variety of flavors and integrate dining and academic exchanges, together create a complete and rich learning and living space. The school also has first-class cultural and sports facilities such as a concert hall, an art gallery, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a standard swimming pool and a track and field, as well as clay and hard courts that meet the standards of the four major international competitions, and venues for ice hockey, speed skating and other winter sports. The smart campus system is well-developed, with an integrated wired and wireless network covering the entire campus. The library, which combines traditional and digital resources and integrates educational and service functions, has a well-arranged layout and a rich collection, making it an ideal place for students to focus on their studies.

The school offers a wide range of disciplines, including literature, science, engineering, medicine, law, agriculture, economics, education, history, management, and art. The university has a complete system of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree conferral, with two first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 14 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, one second-level discipline authorized for master's degrees, and 16 categories authorized for master's professional degrees. It has two postdoctoral research stations, three postdoctoral research workstations and one postdoctoral innovation practice base, and its clinical medicine discipline has entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings. It has 17 "Dongji" academic teams, a provincial "head goose" team in "Research and Development of New Biomedical Oral Implants and Supporting Equipment" and a provincial "Spring goose" team in "Research on Nutritional Diet for the Prevention and Treatment of Gout and Hyperuricemia", as well as two provincial "Double First-Class" characteristic disciplines and supporting platforms in "North Medicine and Functional Food" and "Research and Development and Personalized Manufacturing of Oral Biomedical Materials".

The university has established friendly cooperative relations with 26 universities and research institutions in 7 countries and regions including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Japan, South Korea, Canada and Malaysia. Actively integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative, striving to build a bridgehead for the opening up of education in eastern Heilongjiang to the north, and leveraging its geographical advantages to strive to establish a center for educational and academic exchanges in Northeast Asia. The school has initiated and hosted events such as the "Mathematics and Computer Competition for Students from Heilongjiang, China and the Far East of Russia" and the "Heilongjiang - Amur" International Research and Education Forum, which have become brand projects for educational exchanges with Russia in the region. The university has joined the China-Russia Medical University Alliance as a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Heilongjiang Provincial Government Scholarship, and the "International Industry-University-Research-Use" joint training program for graduate students with Chinese and foreign mentors. There are currently students from 27 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and South America studying here.

Jiamusi University is a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship Program and has the right to recruit students independently. In the 2026/2027 academic year, Jiamusi University also has the "Ministry of Education - Heilongjiang Province Eurasian International Students Scholarship Program". The university offers full scholarships to students from 13 Eurasian countries, namely Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Mongolia, to pursue doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees.
