Yangtze University

Yangtze University is the largest and most comprehensive university among the provincial universities in Hubei Province. It is one of the universities selected for the National "Education Power Promotion Project", one of the four key high-level universities in Hubei Province, and one of the "First-Class Universities in China Construction" in Hubei Province. It is also a university jointly built by the Hubei Provincial Government and China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and the Hubei Provincial Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China. Yangtze University is a university with profound heritage. Its educational history dates back to 1936 and it was formed in 2003 through the merger of the former Jianghan Petroleum Institute, Hubei Agricultural College, Jingzhou Normal College and Hubei Health Workers' Medical College. The university is named after the Yangtze River, the longest river in China. Its main campus is located in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, a historical and cultural city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and it has a campus in Wuhan. The school has more than 3,000 faculty members, over 35,000 undergraduates, nearly 8,000 master's and doctoral students, and over 1,800 international students. Since its establishment, the school has cultivated more than 600,000 specialized talents of all kinds for society.

The university is a doctoral degree-granting institution and has five first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points in Petroleum and natural gas Engineering, Geology, Geological resources and geological Engineering, Crop science and Plant Protection. 38 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points and 24 master's professional degree authorization categories; 83 undergraduate programs (categories). The university has distinctive features in petroleum, agriculture, teacher education and medicine. Nine disciplines, including engineering, plant and animal science, agricultural science, earth science, clinical medicine, chemistry, environment and ecology, pharmacology and toxicology, and materials science, are in the top 1% of ESI global rankings, and petroleum is in the top 4 in China.

The university adheres to open education and has established school-enterprise (local) partnerships with 58 large and extra-large domestic petroleum and petrochemical enterprises and 170 county-level and above governments and local enterprises. It is a national model unit for industry-university-research cooperation education and a Hubei Province Graduate Innovation base for petroleum disciplines. The university has established substantive partnerships with more than 120 foreign institutions and has initiated and joined 16 university alliances, including the China-CEEC University Association. The university offers undergraduate programs in civil engineering in partnership with Shannon Institute of Technology in Ireland and in electrical engineering and automation in partnership with St. Cloud State University in the United States. It is also the implementing unit of the China Scholarship Council's International Cooperation Program for Innovative Talent Cultivation. The school has passed the higher education quality certification for international students and is qualified to admit Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese. It also has HSK test centers. International students come from 92 countries across five continents, including the United States, France, Canada, Russia, Colombia, Indonesia, Brazil, Morocco, Pakistan, Nepal, Ghana and Mozambique.
