Huazhong University of Science and Technology, also known as Huazhong University of Science and Technology, is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province in central China. It is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education of China and one of the key universities under the "211 Project" and "985 Project". It is also among the first batch of universities to be included in the "Double First-Class" initiative.
The campus covers more than 7,000 mu, with lush trees and green grass, and a green coverage rate of 72%, earning it the title of "Forest University". The school has a complete teaching support system and a full range of public service facilities.
The university has a complete range of disciplines with a reasonable structure and has basically established a discipline system of a comprehensive and research-oriented university. It has 11 major disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary studies. It offers 119 undergraduate programs, 47 first-level disciplines for master's degrees, and 46 first-level disciplines for doctoral degrees. Among them, there are 5 undergraduate programs taught entirely in English, and more than 100 master's and doctoral programs taught entirely in English. There are currently over 3,000 international students from more than 130 countries studying on campus, including more than 2,000 degree students.
The school has a strong faculty, with over 3,600 full-time teachers, including more than 1,500 professors, more than 1,300 associate professors, 20 academicians and 325 chief scientists of major projects.
The school adheres to an open educational philosophy and actively conducts all-round and multi-level international exchanges and cooperation. Currently, it has established friendly cooperation with more than 300 universities and institutions in 41 countries and regions around the world. Each year, about 1,600 foreign experts and scholars come to our school to teach, conduct cooperative research and carry out academic exchanges.
Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a recipient of Chinese government scholarships for international students. The university began enrolling international students in the early 1960s. For more than 60 years, it has trained over 15,000 students of all kinds from more than 160 countries and regions around the world. After receiving degrees and certificates from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and returning to work, many international alumni have achieved remarkable success in their respective fields, becoming outstanding engineers and technicians, renowned medical experts, government administrators or diplomatic officials in China.
In July 2013, during the Ministry of Education's first batch of demonstration bases for international students in China, our university stood out in the selection and became one of the Ministry of Education's first batch of demonstration bases for international students in China. In 2017, it passed the Ministry of Education's quality certification for international students in China with high scores. In 2023, it passed the re-certification of the quality of higher education for international students in China with an excellent grade of A, and was granted a maximum validity period of 8 years.
