Southeast University was founded in 1902 and is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in China. It is located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province in southeastern China. More than a third of the world's top 500 companies have branches in the province. Over the past five years, Jiangsu Province has remained the top province in attracting foreign investment. Nanjing is both a beautiful modern city and has a long history and culture. Short flights can take you to major cities across China, with a two-hour train ride from Nanjing to Shanghai. Southeast University is a key comprehensive research university directly under the Ministry of Education, covering disciplines such as science, engineering, medicine, literature, law, philosophy, education, economics and management. It has 38 faculties and 85 undergraduate programs. Southeast University has three main campuses covering a total area of 447 hectares and has 41,756 full-time students, including 24,707 graduate students and 2,165 international students. Southeast University began accepting international students in the 1950s and currently has nearly 2,000 international students from more than 100 countries studying on campus. In addition to all courses taught in Chinese, international students can also choose different levels of Chinese language courses, participate in short-term study Tours, or choose English-taught programs.
