Jiangnan University, founded in 1902, is located in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, within the Shanghai economic circle. It is a key university under the "211 Project" directly under the Ministry of Education. The university has 18 colleges, among which food science, fermentation engineering, textile and clothing, industrial design and other majors are leading in China and have a considerable influence internationally. In recent years, international economics and trade, business administration, computer science and technology and other majors have also received a large number of international students.

The university currently has 20,122 full-time undergraduate students, 8,329 doctoral and master's students, and 1,276 international students. The school has always regarded the quality of education as its lifeline. Its disciplines cover nine major categories including economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture and management. Among them, food science, fermentation engineering, textile engineering and industrial design are leading in China and have a considerable influence internationally. In recent years, emerging majors such as international trade and business administration have also received a large number of international students.

Since 1964, Jiangnan University has been accepting international students and has trained students from more than 100 countries around the world. It has established the "Comprehensive Scholarship for International Students", "President's Scholarship" and "Taihu Scholarship" specifically for international students.

Jiangnan University has six postdoctoral research stations, six first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees in food science and engineering, light industry technology and engineering, textile science and engineering, control science and engineering, chemical engineering and technology, and design, 26 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and five categories authorized for master's professional degrees. It has one national first-level key discipline and five second-level key disciplines in food science and Engineering, three Jiangsu Province Advantageous Discipline Construction Project disciplines including Food Science and Engineering, Light Industry Technology and Engineering, and Control Science and Engineering, and one Jiangsu Province Key sequence discipline.

The school adheres to the strategy of strengthening the school with talent and builds a high-quality professional teaching staff with high moral standards, excellent professional skills, reasonable structure and full of vitality. The school has 3,198 staff members, including 1,901 full-time teachers (including 1,002 postgraduate supervisors). Among the full-time teachers, 64.8% have senior professional titles, 64.7% have doctoral degrees, and 37.5% have more than one year of overseas study experience.
