Jiangsu Normal University was founded in 1952 and is located in Xuzhou, a city of history and culture. Jiangsu Normal University is a university jointly built by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Education, and is a regional leading model university. As one of the first universities in the country to be qualified to receive international students, the university has established friendly cooperative relations with 156 universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Russia and other countries, and has received international students from 76 countries and regions.
The university has been designated as a "Chinese Government Scholarship Student Training Institution" and a "Target School for Studying in Jiangsu", and has been included in the Ministry of Education's exchange program for teachers and students of Higher Education institutions in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. It has taken the lead in establishing the China-Russia Cooperative University Alliance, the Jiangsu-Russia University Cooperation Alliance, and the China (Jiangsu) -Latin America University Alliance, and has joined several important international alliances such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, the Jiangsu-UK High-level University Alliance, and the BRICS University Alliance. The university has established the world's first overseas Mencius college in Malaysia. The university has a number of research institutions, including the Belt and Road Institute (CIS Research Center), the Pakistan Research Center, the Australia Research Center, and the China-Latin America People-to-people Exchange Research Base, three of which have been registered with the Ministry of Education. The university has established research platforms with world-renowned institutions such as Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University, the University of Lyon 1 in France, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States, and has carried out cooperative education and credit recognition programs with universities in many countries.
