Chang 'an University is directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is a key university under the "211 Project", a university under the "985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform", and a university with world-class disciplines. In 2017, it passed the national quality certification for international students in China.
The school is located in the historic and cultural city of Xi 'an. It has two campuses, namely the main campus and Weishui campus, and two teaching and practice bases, Taibai Mountain and Liangshan Campus, covering an area of 3,745 mu. The main campus is adjacent to the Big Wild goose Pagoda in Xi 'an, and the Weishui campus is located in the National Xi 'an Economic and Technological Development Zone.
For more than 60 years, Chang 'an University has gradually developed into a higher education institution with a focus on engineering, a combination of science and engineering, coordinated development of humanities and social sciences and basic disciplines, and a characteristic of cultivating professionals in highway transportation, land resources, urban and rural construction, and has a certain influence at home and abroad. The university has 21 teaching colleges (departments), 8 postdoctoral research stations, 8 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 52 second-level discipline doctoral programs, 26 first-level discipline master's programs, 122 second-level discipline master's programs, and 40 undergraduate programs. There are more than 34,000 full-time students, including over 10,000 doctoral students, master's students and international students. The overall employment rate of graduates has remained stable at over 93% in recent years. The school has 2,067 full-time faculty members, including 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 6 Changjiang Scholars, 1,145 professors and associate professors, 166 doctoral supervisors, and 755 master's supervisors. There are five provincial and ministerial-level experts with outstanding contributions, and more than 80 people have been selected for the National Talent Program of the New Century Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project and various high-level talent programs of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, Shaanxi Province, etc. The university adheres to the integration of industry, academia and research, with an annual research budget of over 700 million yuan.
The school began enrolling international students in 1956 and has trained more than 4,000 international students from over 70 countries and regions including the United States, Germany, Japan, Australia, Vietnam, Tanzania and Yemen. Currently, there are 713 international students on campus.
Through years of practice, the school has developed a spirit of self-improvement, truth-seeking, unity and progress, and pursuit of excellence, earning a good reputation in society.
