South China Normal University attaches great importance to the construction of its teaching staff. Through years of efforts, it has formed an international and high-quality teaching staff and cultivated and gathered a group of high-level experts and scholars with certain influence at home and abroad. The university has a total of 1,979 teaching and research staff, including 1,098 professors, researchers, associate professors and associate researchers, and 10 academicians.
The school attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation. It has established cooperative relations with dozens of foreign and overseas universities and research institutions, and has carried out substantive cooperation in the introduction of foreign intelligence and quality educational resources, talent cultivation, academic research, cooperative education, holding of international conferences, publication of academic achievements, teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, etc. The school is one of the national bases for teaching Chinese as a foreign language and also a recipient of government scholarships. It began to recruit international students in 1987 and has established Confucius Institutes in France, Canada and Latvia.
Two of its campuses are located in the city of Guangzhou, and the other is in the neighboring city of Foshan, which is close to Hong Kong and Macao, has a prosperous economy, convenient transportation and pleasant climate. The Canton Fair is held in Guangzhou every spring and autumn, attracting a large number of foreign friends.
