School Introduction
Founded in 1960, Beijing University of Technology is a multi-disciplinary municipal key university with a focus on engineering, covering nine disciplines including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, education, art, and interdisciplinary studies. In 1981, it became one of the first institutions approved by the Ministry of Education to confer master's degrees, and in 1985, it became a doctoral degree granting institution. In 1996, it passed the pre-examination of the national "211 Project" and officially entered the ranks of the 100 key universities to be built in the 21st century. In 2017, the university was officially included in the list of national first-class discipline construction universities. In 2022, it successfully passed the first round of construction assessment and entered the list of the second round of "Double First-Class" construction universities and disciplines, with 10 disciplines ranking among the top 500 in the QS World University Rankings by subject. Engineering, materials science, chemistry, environmental science and ecology, computer science, biology and biochemistry, Social sciences in General, physics, earth sciences, clinical medicine and mathematics are all in the top 1% of ESI globally, and engineering and materials science are in the top 1‰ of ESI globally.
