University of International Business and Economics

The University of International Business and Economics is a university directly under the Ministry of Education, a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Commerce, and one of the first universities to be included in the "Double First-Class" initiative and the "211 Project".

The University of International Business and Economics has a long history and was the first higher education institution in New China to cultivate specialized talents in foreign trade. It was founded in 1951 and was formerly a school for senior commercial officials under the Ministry of Trade of the Central People's Government. It was renamed Beijing College of Foreign Trade in 1953. In 1954, the foreign trade department of Renmin University of China was merged and the school was renamed Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade. In 1960, it was selected as a national key institution of higher learning, and in 1964, it was selected as a key institution for foreign language education. In 1978, Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade became a directly affiliated unit of the Ministry of Foreign Trade. In 1983, the school merged with the School of International Economics and Management, which was affiliated with the State Import and Export Administration Commission. It was renamed the University of International Business and Economics in 1984. In 1997, it was selected as a key university under the National "211 Project". In 1987, the China Finance Institute was established under the People's Bank of China. In 2000, the University of International Business and Economics and the China Finance Institute merged to form the new University of International Business and Economics, which is a higher education institution directly under the Ministry of Education. In 2010, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Commerce jointly signed an agreement to build the university of International Business and Economics. In 2017, the university was selected as one of the first batch of "Double First-Class" universities in China.

Graduates are widely welcomed by society for their solid professional knowledge and skills, proficiency in foreign languages, active thinking and strong practical ability. The university of International Business and Economics has a strong faculty, with many masters and new talents. Liao Fujun, Wu 堉 gan, yuan Xianneng, yao Zengyin, shen daming, yao nianqing, Shi Daoyuan, zhang Xiongwu, feng datong and other "great teachers of China 's international business and economics" are renowned both at home and abroad. A total of 45 students from the university have been selected for the National Major Talent Program, and 46 have received special government allowances from The State Council. The university of International Business and Economics focuses on open education, with active exchanges between China and foreign countries. It is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in the People's Republic of China to offer education to international students. International exchanges and cooperation are a distinct feature and an important driving force of the university's education. At present, the university has established cooperative and exchange relations with more than 370 prestigious universities and institutions in 62 countries and regions. It ranks among the top universities in China in terms of both the number and proportion of international students. About 30 percent of undergraduate students go abroad to study at prestigious universities. Michael Spence, a Nobel laureate in economics, Stephen Perry, a recipient of the China Reform Friendship Medal, and Andreas Loschel, an academician of the German National Academy of Engineering, hold academic positions at the university. The university has 10 Confucius Institutes in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas and Oceania.

The university of International Business and Economics has a strong educational background and an elegant environment. It is located in Chaoyang District, Beijing, south of the ruins of the Yuan Dadu and north of the Bird's Nest. Li Lanqing, Rong Yiren, Ho Ying-dong, Wu Yi and others have successively served as the chairperson, honorary chairperson and honorary chairperson of the university's board of directors.
