North China Electric Power University

North China Electric Power University is a key university under the Ministry of Education under the "211 Project", a key university under the "985 Project Advantage Discipline Platform", and a university with first-class disciplines under the "Double First-Class" initiative. Founded in 1958, the university has its main campus in Beijing and a branch campus in Baoding, both of which are managed under an integrated system.

The school has more than 30,000 full-time students and more than 3,000 staff members. It has 11 colleges and 59 undergraduate programs. It has two national key disciplines, namely "Power Systems and Automation" and "Thermal Energy Engineering", 25 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, the "Engineering" discipline is in the ESI top 1% of the world, 5 postdoctoral research stations, 5 first-level disciplines, 30 second-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 23 first-level disciplines, 123 second-level discipline master degree authorization points. A complete education system for undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees has been formed.

The school has a highly motivated, well-qualified and well-structured teaching staff. There are two academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, five dual-appointed academicians, six members of the National Thousand Talents Program, two members of the National Young Thousand Talents Program, and two members of the National High-level Talent Special Support Program. Five Chief scientists of the 973 Program, one national teaching master, ten recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, four Changjiang Scholars, eight talents under the National Program of 100,000 Talents, 38 talents under the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talent Support Program, and four teams under the Ministry of Education's Changjiang Scholars and Innovation Team Development Program.

The school regards talent cultivation as its fundamental task and has formed a talent cultivation feature of "solid foundation, emphasis on practice, strong ability, and innovation". It is among the first batch of universities to implement the Ministry of Education's "Outstanding Engineers Training Program" and has passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching work level assessment with an "excellent" grade. The school actively participates in the construction of the national innovation system and has achieved remarkable results in important fields such as new energy power generation, ultra-high voltage, smart grid, high-efficiency and clean coal-fired power generation technology, and nuclear power technology. Currently, it has 3 national-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, 1 national-level international science and technology cooperation base, and 5 disciplinary innovation and intelligence introduction bases of higher education institutions. There are 27 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology platforms and research bases, and the university has been selected as a national demonstration base for the cultivation of innovative talents. Since the "Tenth Five-Year Plan", it has undertaken more than 2,500 vertical projects including the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Science and Technology Major Project, the "973" program, the "863" program, the National Science and Technology Support Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation, and has won 275 national and provincial-level science and technology progress awards. The research funds have grown rapidly, and the ranking of scientific papers in the three major international retrieval systems is among the top universities directly under the Ministry of Education.
