Capital University of Physical Education and Sports

Founded in 1956, Capital University of Physical Education and Sports is the only municipal physical education institution in Beijing and one of the national physical education institutions that accepts students on Chinese government scholarships. The university has three campuses: the main campus, the North Campus and the Phoenix Ridge Campus. The main campus is located in the Beijing Haidian University Campus, west of the Zhongguancun Science Park and east of the famous "Jimen Yanshu" scenic area, enjoying an excellent geographical location.

The university offers eleven undergraduate programs, including physical education, sports training, sports human science, sports rehabilitation, social sports guidance and management, leisure sports, Wushu and traditional Ethnic sports, dance Performance, journalism, public administration, sports economics and management. It offers six academic master's programs in Physical education and Training, kinesiology, sports humanities and social sciences, traditional ethnic sports, sports rehabilitation, and applied psychology, as well as two professional master's programs in sports and journalism and communication, and one doctoral program in physical education.

15 social organizations, including the Asian University Sports Federation Education Development Center, the China Mass Volleyball Research and Development Center, the National Campus Basketball League, the National Track and Field Amateur Training League Training Base, the Beijing Campus Football Association, the Beijing Curling Association, etc., are located or affiliated with the school. The school also has "Chinese Language International Promotion Wushu Training and Research Base", "Beijing Chinese Language Education Base", and "HSK Online Test Center" to disseminate and promote traditional Chinese culture.

The school has nearly 500 staff members, and 86.7% of the teaching staff have master's or doctoral degrees. Among them, 18 have been awarded the title of International Master of Sports, 24 have been awarded the title of International Referee, 5 have served as head coaches of national teams or foreign martial arts teams, and 14 have served as research and physical training coaches or physical therapists of national teams.

The school has gathered a group of martial arts teachers who have won world or national martial arts competitions. There is Shi Longlong, the champion of the 13th World Wushu Championships in sparring, Zhao Qingjian, the champion of sabre at the 9th World Wushu Championships and the champion of the combined sabre and staff event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Guo Yufeng, the national wushu champion and former head coach of the Sri Lankan national wushu team, Yang Jing, the champion of Tai Chi at the 4th Asian Wushu Championships, and Li Fengmei, a stunt double for the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", among others.

Capital University of Physical Education and Sports is very active in international exchange activities. It has signed cooperative education agreements with many universities or organizations in the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Canada, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Armenia, Denmark, etc., to exchange students and visiting scholars. It has gradually established the foundation of a higher-level cooperative network with overseas universities as the main partners and education and research cooperation as the main contents. At present, the school has more than 5,000 students of all kinds and nearly 100 long-term foreign students. In addition, the school receives hundreds of short-term international students from more than 50 countries and regions each year.
