Disciplines and Specialties

The school has two levels: the School of Law, the School of Economics and Law (Silk Road Law School), the School of International Law, the School of Criminal Justice, the School of Police, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Social Management, the School of International Affairs and Public Administration, the School of Literature and Media, the Shanghai Documentary Academy, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Marxism, the Higher Vocational College, the School of International Exchange, and the School of Continuing Education The college also has teaching departments such as the Computer Teaching Department and the Physical Education Department.

Talent development

The school is committed to taking educational quality as its lifeline, implementing all-staff, all-round and all-process education, and comprehensively enhancing the quality of student cultivation. In recent years, the cumulative pass rate of College English Test Band 4 has exceeded 90%, and that of Band 6 has reached over 60%. A series of achievements have been made in innovation and entrepreneurship education for college students. More than 20 provincial and municipal awards have been received in the Challenge Cup Extracurricular Academic Works Competition for College Students, and honors such as the top prize of the 7th National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference (2014), the Special Prize of the 7th Shanghai "Zhi Xing Cup" Social Practice Competition, and the championship of the Shanghai College Students' Legal Debate Competition for two consecutive years have been won. Documentaries made by college students have won numerous awards at home and abroad. The school's men's and women's cricket teams have both won the National cricket championship for many consecutive years. In September and October 2017, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretary-General Alimov sent congratulatory letters to the Model United Nations Association of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, praising the association's positive contributions. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 97% for many consecutive years, ranking among the top universities in Shanghai. In 2013, it was awarded the title of "Advanced Collective for Promoting Employment in Shanghai" by the Shanghai Municipal Government.

Teaching staff

The school has a strong, well-structured and well-structured faculty with a solid professional theoretical foundation, close ties with the domestic and international practical community, rich teaching experience and an international perspective. The school has more than 600 staff members, including nearly 500 full-time teachers. Teachers with senior titles account for nearly 50% of the total number of teachers, 90% have doctoral or master's degrees, and more than 90 teachers have the qualifications of doctoral or master's supervisors. Among them are a group of outstanding teachers, including experts with special government allowances, members of the Teaching Steering Committee for Law Majors of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, Oriental Scholars, Shanghai Young and Middle-aged Jurists, Shanghai Top Ten Outstanding Young People, Shanghai Teaching Masters, Pujiang Talents, Dawn Scholars, Morning Light Scholars, and National Baosteel Excellent Teachers. In addition, the university has invited more than 100 experts and scholars from the legal community and legal practice departments to serve as visiting and part-time professors.

National Project

Schools proactively align with major national and social development needs and actively serve national strategies. This is the first time a Chinese head of state has announced to the world a national project to be undertaken by a single university.

The school has achieved a series of results by fully leveraging its three functions as a training base, a think tank and a forum. So far, the training base has been entrusted by the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Commerce and other central ministries and commissions to complete nearly 20 sessions of foreign aid training tasks. Over the past three years, nearly 200 consultative decisions have been submitted, many of which have been approved by central leaders and dozens have been adopted by the General Office of the Central Committee. In 2016, our university ranked second among Shanghai universities in the system of the Party Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in terms of reported decision-making consultation achievements. The university has the Supreme People's Court 'Belt and Road' Judicial Research Base, the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences in Shanghai Universities, and the Research Base of Shanghai Education Legislation Consultation and Service; The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Institute and the Northeast Asia Research Center are regional and country-specific research centers approved by the Ministry of Education. The university is a member of the Belt and Road Think Tank Cooperation Alliance, and the SCO training Base has been included in the "Action Plan for Shanghai to Serve the National Belt and Road Initiative and Play a Bridgehead Role" by the Shanghai Municipal Government.

International exchanges

The school is accelerating its internationalization process. The school is a "Chinese Government Scholarship Institution", a "China-Us Humanities Program Institution", a member of the "Study in China" Overseas Preparatory Education Alliance, and has been approved to establish the only preparatory education center in the Yangtze River Delta region. Foreign students have been admitted since 2013. We have established friendly cooperative relations with 64 universities and institutions around the world, including well-known international organizations such as the Hague Conference on Private International Law and the International Chamber of Commerce, and world-renowned universities such as the University of Montreal in Canada, the University of Leeds in the UK, and Washington University in St. Louis in the US. We have also established overseas English language training centers. There are more than ten joint undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs, including 3+1, 2+2 and 2+1.
