University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It was formed in 1956 by the merger of telecommunications engineering-related majors from three top universities of science and technology. In 1960, it was listed as a key national university by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1997, it was identified as one of the first batch of key universities under the "211 Project". In 2001, it was included in the National 985 Project, and in 2017, it was included in the national Class A universities for building world-class universities.
The university is centered on electronic information science and technology, with engineering as its main focus, and the integration of science and engineering. It has formed a multi-disciplinary research university with coordinated development of science, engineering, management, liberal arts and medicine.
The university has vigorously implemented the "talent first development" strategy and now has more than 3,800 staff members, including more than 2,700 teachers and more than 800 professors.
The school currently has more than 44,000 full-time students of all kinds.
The school began enrolling international students on a large scale in 2010 and now has more than 1,000 international students from over 100 countries and regions around the world studying on campus.
The school has three campuses, namely Qingshuihe, Shahe and Jiuliti, covering an area of 1.49 million square meters. It has a modern digital library with rich collections and a number of modern sports venues with complete facilities
In the 2025 US NEWS World University Rankings, our university is ranked 137th globally in the overall ranking, 3rd in artificial intelligence, 4th in electrical and electronic engineering, and 15th in computer science.
