Tianjin University of Technology and Education, founded in 1979, is the first regular higher normal university in China whose main task is to train teachers for vocational education. At present, the university has produced more than 50,000 high-quality vocational teachers and applied senior technical talents, and its graduates are highly sought after by employers.

The school has always adhered to the educational philosophy of "hands-on and brain-stimulating, all-round development", and has remained committed to its mission of cultivating high-quality vocational teachers for the country. There are more than 18,000 full-time students of all kinds, including undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students. To meet the market demand, the school is also actively cultivating applied senior technical talents for society. In the 1990s, the school pioneered the "dual-certificate" talent cultivation model. "Dual-credential" means that students will receive both academic certificates and vocational qualification certificates upon graduation. The unique training model has enabled the school to win the first prize of National Teaching Achievement twice.

The school has 10 colleges, covering seven disciplines including engineering, education, science, management, economics, literature and art; It has one postdoctoral workstation, one doctoral program for special needs of the country, ten first-level discipline master's programs, and 39 undergraduate programs.

Tianjin is one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government and the largest coastal city in northern China. The school is located in Hexi District in the southeast of Tianjin, with very convenient transportation. It is only a half-hour drive from Tianjin Railway Station and 20 minutes from Tianjin Binhai International Airport.

Since 1993, the school has been recruiting international students and is a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Confucius Institute Scholarship, and the Tianjin Government Scholarship for International Students. In 2008, the school established the International College, which is fully responsible for the recruitment, training and management of international students.

The school offers various scholarships to international students. Since 2003, the number of international students at our school has continued to grow, with over a thousand international students from more than 70 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States conducting long-term and short-term studies at our school. Undergraduate, master's and doctoral students from nearly 20 countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Ethiopia, Zambia, Tanzania, Ukraine and Poland, are currently studying at our school.

As one of the first educational aid bases of the Ministry of Education, the school has sent more than 200 foreign aid teachers to teach in vocational colleges in Asia, Africa and other countries, and trained more than 10,000 students. The school undertook the Chinese government's assistance to build the Ethiopia-China Vocational and Technical College, which was included in the "China-Africa University 20+20 Cooperation Program". In 2014, the school established the ASEAN Education and Training Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education. The school has established three Confucius Institutes, six Confucius classrooms and two Chinese language teaching sites in Africa, Oceania and Europe. The school has international cooperation and exchanges with many universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Belgium, New Zealand and other countries.
