Zhejiang Sci-Tech University has a long history and is located in the historic and cultural city of Hangzhou, covering an area of more than 2,100 mu.
Today, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is a provincial university with engineering as its main focus, distinctive features, prominent advantages, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines including science, engineering, literature, economics, management, law, art, and education. The university has 17 colleges (teaching and research departments) and one independent college. It has more than 27,000 full-time students, including more than 3,500 postgraduate students. The school offers 63 undergraduate programs, including 8 national (Ministry of Education) characteristic programs, 1 Ministry of Education Comprehensive Reform pilot program, 6 Ministry of Education "Outstanding Engineers Education and Training Program" pilot programs, 3 Ministry of Education - Autotek Professional Comprehensive Reform Project, 7 Provincial advantageous programs and 5 provincial characteristic programs during the 13th Five-Year Plan. It has two national bilingual teaching demonstration courses and two brand courses taught in English by the Ministry of Education for international students.
The school has a strong faculty, with more than 2,000 staff members, including over 880 with associate senior professional titles and over 260 with senior professional titles. It has two Ministry of Education innovation teams, seven provincial key science and technology innovation teams, one provincial key cultural innovation team, and five provincial higher education innovation teams.
The school has been committed to research work, and its research academic level has been continuously improved. It has completed a series of national science and technology plan projects and national, provincial and ministerial fund research projects in many fields, and has won 7 second prizes of national invention Award, 5 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 third prize of National Science and Technology Progress award, 1 Lu Xun Literature Award, 1 Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Innovation award. The university adheres to open education and has established cooperative relations with over 100 educational and research institutions in more than 20 countries and regions. Two Confucius Institutes have been jointly built with the University of Mauritius and the University of Suriname, and international student education has developed rapidly.
